The story is a direct continuation of Mortal Kombat 9, taking place two years after the death of the evil Shao Kahn. They developed MKX on new consoles in mind, and I don't blame them for not wanting to create another unplayable Shadow of Mordor-style mess that occurred with that game transitioning to old consoles.Like Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat X contains a multi-chapter story mode containing dozens of fun fights. I'm sad that I won't be able to play MKX anytime soon, but I guess it's for the best in all honesty. Thing is, the new consoles are extremely powerful compared to their predecessors, so when developers even think about making a game for the old consoles, the fans pussyfoot around, claiming that they're ruining the experience for the new generation. It should have been experienced by everyone, but it unfortunately won't. Aesthetics shouldn't matter when you're looking for entertainment, so I agree with you.
I enjoy me some UMK3, as well as a ps1 to play MK4 on. Some people aren't fortunate enough to buy new things, and some just don't feel the need to - like myself.
